What We Do
Garnering upon the huge success of Scott Bradlee’s Post Modern Jukebox, we mainly feature modern songs that have a vintage twist. Featuring some of Scotland and the UK’s finest musicians we play every instrument live. No backing tracks, no autotune, no sequences, no laptops, no trickery. Just good old-fashioned music played the way it’s meant to be! We cover many different styles of music from vintage jazz though to 60’s soul, motown and 70’s funk.
Check out our Selist (from the menu above) It’s is constantly being added to, but being a highly adaptable group of musicians, we’re more than willing to have a go at busking your favourite tune! If there is a very special tune you want us to “vintage-ise” please try and let us know at least a month in advance of your event. (additional charge)
Setup
Our standard setup is Piano, Bass, Drums, Trombone (doubling on percussion and backing vocals), Trumpet (doubling on Flugelhorn, trombone, percussion and backing vocals) and Sax (doubling on Tenor, baritone, flute, clarinet and backing vocals) with both Male and Female lead vocalists (doubling on whatever instrument comes closest to hand!). You can choose either one set at approximately 2 hours long or two sets of one hour long or even three sets of 40/45 mins. We can also provide interlude background music as well as disco services for after the band has finished.
MVDB are entirely self contained and have our own high quality PA system and lighting rig. We will generally arrive at least an hour or two before your event commences (or earlier by request), setup and soundcheck in a quick and thorough manner. Our usual setup from arrival to read to play is an hour and 15mins, although we can do this quicker if need be. If your event is at a venue we are not familiar with, we may make a site visit a few weeks before in order to carry out a site survey.
